• ESA Foundation Scholarships                                Due: February 1st

    Follow the link to set up an account which will open you up to 38 different scholarships. Will be a scholarship opportunity for everyone. There is a $5 fee for each scholarship you apply for.



    Dakota Corps Scholarship Program                       Due: February 1st

    Graduate from an accredited South Dakota high school with a Grade Point Average (GPA of) 2.8 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Home schooled students will be allowed to provide supplemental information if this requirement is not applicable.
    Have a composite ACT score of 27 or greater (or the SAT equivalent). Agree, in writing, to stay in South Dakota and work in a critical need occupation after graduation for as many years as the scholarship was received, plus one year.

        • K-12 Special Education
        • High School Math

        • K-12 Foreign Language
        • Secondary Language Arts
        • English as a Second Language (ESL) or English Language Learners (ELL)

      • Engineer (Includes all fields EXCEPT mining, chemical, biomedical, and computer hardware)

    Elks Legacy Awards                           Due: February 7th

    Legacy Awards are $4,000 scholarships available to children and grandchildren of Elks members. Eligibility requirements are outlined below. The Foundation will offer a total of 300 awards in the 2022 contest.




    South Dakota High School Coaches Association Scholarship            Due: February 10th

    There are 4 scholarship opportunities aimed at senior student athletes from South Dakota.





    Stratford Community Theatre Scholarship        Due: February 11th

    The Stratford Community Theatre is pleased to be able to offer another scholarship this year. This scholarship will go to a deserving student who has shown outstanding school and community involvement. 





    Northern Electric Cooperative Scholarship                Due: February 11th

    If your parents are consumer members of Northern Electric Cooperative, you are eligible to apply for a $1000 and $500 education scholarship offered by the cooperative. Your school counselor has applications or you can go to:

    Basin Electric Power Cooperative-Member Cooperative Scholarship:            Due: February 14th 

    This $1,000 is awarded to the dependent children, including adopted or stepchildren, of member-owners of Lake Region Electric Association. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen and must be a student who is enrolled, or is planning to enroll, in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited, two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school.

    Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of education and career goals, and an outside appraisal.

    Lake Region Electric Duane Snaza Memorial Scholarship               Due: February 14th

    This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student who is the dependent child, including adopted or stepchild, of member-owners of Lake Region Electric Association. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen and must be a student who is enrolled, or is planning to enroll, in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited, two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school.





    MediaCom World Class Scholarship              Due: February 15th

    Supporting Higher Education and The Families of Mediacom Customers Just like most American families, the Mediacom family believes in the importance of higher education. As a corporation with strong community roots, we wanted to support, in some way, the higher education of our customers. For this reason, we formed World Class – The Mediacom Scholarship Program to help graduating high school students with their college expenses, such as tuition and books. 





    Ty Eschenbaum Foundation Scholarship              Due: February 15th 

    Open to seniors who are cancer survivors. The scholarship was founded to help students who have been diagnosed with youth cancer at any point in their life.





    Gordon Horgen Scholarship                       Due: February 15th

    South Dakota Native American students planning to enter the teaching profession.





    RAMIA BOERSMA SCHOLARSHIP                    Due: February 15th

    Every year the South Dakota Education Association sponsors scholarships to support high school seniors who wish to pursue a career in education. Both are $750 scholarships which can be renewed for 4 years.  Ramia Boersma applicants must be the son/daughter or grandson/granddaughter of an SDEA or SDEA Retired member. 



    Gordon A. Rich Memorial Foundation Scholarship                 Due: February 16th

    Exceptionally qualified high school students with demonstrated financial need, whose parents or guardians have, or had, a career in the financial service industry.




    The Ardell Bjugstad Scholarship                                Due: February 25th

    The Ardell Bjugstad Scholarship Program for Native American Students provides support for freshman Native American Students who are pursuing studies in agribusiness, agricultural production, agricultural sciences, or a natural resources degree at any postsecondary institution.





    The Annis Irene Fowler/Kaden Scholarship                                  Due: February 25th​

    The Annis Irene Fowler/Kaden Scholarship is awarded to first-time entering freshman at BHSU, DSU, NSU or USD and who will select elementary education as their major field. Special consideration is given to students with demonstrated motivational ability, a disability, or who are self-supporting. 





    Foundation for Rural Services Scholarships:         Due: February 25th

    The foundation annually awards scholarships to an exceptional group of rural students for their first year of college or vocational school. All applicants require sponsorship by an NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association member company to be eligible. FRS has awarded over $1 million in scholarships since its inception; empowering rural students throughout the country to advance their communities with invaluable skill sets and experiences. Information is attached.


    • Be a graduating high school senior.
    • Be a United States citizen.
    • Be sponsored by a current NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association member.
    • Be accepted by an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
    • Have at least a C grade point average (GPA).
    • Express an interest to return to a rural community following graduation.





    James Valley Telecommunications Scholarship          Due: February 28th 

    James Valley Telecommunications will be awarding three $2,000 scholarships in 2022. Please complete this application and essay and return to JVT’s office. Applicant must be a high school senior graduating in the Spring of 2021 and whose parents/legal guardians are members of James Valley Telecommunications. Seniors must be attending an accredited college, university or vocational school in South Dakota in the Fall of 2021. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Immediate family members of James Valley Telecommunications’ directors and employees are not eligible for the JV. The application is attached.



    Evie Kahnke Memorial Scholarship:             Due: February 28th

    The scholarship is open to South Dakota students who  were active in extra curricular activities through all of his/her high school years and plan to pursue a career in the ag industry.

    CRITERIA: The recipient must be a well rounded senior athlete advancing   his/her academic career with an interest in the ag industry. Recipient should be a role model with outstanding character, integrity, dedication and true faith.




    KnowBe4 Women's Scholarship                             Due: February 28th

    Must identify as a female pursuing, or plan to pursue, a degree with a focus on cybersecurity, information assurance or similar field.





    Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship                               Due: February 28th

    Prevention Magazine Scholarship                 Due: Accepting Entries until the end of the year.

    Prevention Magazine is pleased to award a $500.00 Scholarship to a graduating senior with each issue we publish in your state! To qualify to win a $500.00 SCHOLARSHIP all you have to do is write an essay (600-800) words, double spaced about a personal encounter you or someone you know has had with abuse.   More information attached.
