Information for Middle School Students

Women in Science STEM Camp:

The Men and Women in Science event is a day for 8th graders to explore different science careers. Some of careers they can learn about include: health fields, computer fields, engineering fields, and more! Women in Science/Men in Science is March 11th.

Camp Med:

Camp Med is a free, one-day hands-on health career exploration for 8th grade students. Students will experience a wide variety of health careers through hands-on activities and discussions. Students will participate in a fun, hands-on activity such as reading x-rays, practicing a suture, stabilizing a trauma patient, or rehabilitating a stroke patient.

Youth Drone and Code Camp:

This one-day camp will provide hands-on learning in the areas of drones, coding, circuitry, 3D printing, robotics, and more. Faculty and industry partners will be active in sharing knowledge and there will be plenty of hands-on fun and career advice. Lunch will be provided. Limited enrollment. Deadline to sign up is May 1 or until filled.

Dakota Dreams Career Exploration Camps:

South Dakota rising 7th and 8th graders are invited to attend FREE Career Explorations Camps, hosted this summer at BHSU, DSU, NSU, SDSU and USD. These five-day camps will expose students to various career paths through fun, engaging and hands-on learning. By the end of camp, students will have a better understanding of themselves, their career interests and how their education prepares them for professions. For summer 2023, the program will accept 600 students total, 100 at each camp.
