Tanner Jondahl-Class of 1999
After graduating from LHS, just months after the new high school building was completed, Tanner went on to pursue a career in law enforcement. Today, he serves as the Police Chief for the Aberdeen Police Department, where he has worked for nearly 24 years. Throughout his career, he has held many roles including patrol officer, drug investigator, detective, motorcycle officer, bicycle officer, field training officer, SWAT officer, patrol sergeant, and captain.
Outside of his career, Tanner is deeply involved in his community. He currently serves as Chairman of the Aberdeen Salvation Army and is a member of both the Safe Harbor Board of Directors and the Lake Area Tech advisory board. He has been married for more than 20 years and is the proud father of two children. Many people may also recognize him from the sidelines of athletic events, as he has been officiating football and basketball for over 25 years.
Some of his favorite memories from Langford include attending and participating in sporting events and spending weekends meeting friends at the “Rec.” While at LHS, he was involved in football, track, and band, where he played the trombone.
He credits Langford with preparing him for life through the strong sense of community and the teachers who helped shape his path. Two teachers who made a lasting impact on him were Diane Hoines and Dave Carson, whom he admired for their commitment to family, faith, and community.
His advice for current and future Langford students:
“Pursue your passion—chase what interests you and what you enjoy. Life is far more rewarding when you are able to do what you love. Chase your dreams and don’t be afraid of hard work. LHS has equipped you with all the tools you need to achieve whatever you desire.”
